How a project works
First visit to finished garden
Five steps, in the same order every time. You will always know what is happening next and who is doing it.
Request a quoteFirst visit
Tom comes to your garden, usually in the evening or at the weekend. We measure up, look at the soil and the light, and listen to what you want. It takes about an hour and costs nothing.
Design and quote
Within a week you get a drawn plan and a written quote with every cost listed. Change anything you like. We redraw it until it's right.
Booking and preparation
Once you say yes, we agree a start date and order the materials. We tell you who is coming and when. You get one named person to call.
The build
We work in a set order: groundworks first, then hard materials, then planting and turf. Most gardens take four to eight weeks. You get a short update at the end of each week.
Handover and aftercare
We walk round the finished garden with you and show you how to look after it. You get a care sheet for the planting. We come back after six weeks to check everything has settled.

What helps us most
You do not need to prepare much. A few simple things make the first visit more useful, and the quote more accurate.
- Clear access to the garden, such as a side gate or a space for a skip
- A rough idea of how you want to use the garden
- Any photos or pictures you like from magazines or online
- A budget range, if you have one, so we design to fit it

Do I have to pay for the first visit?
No. The first visit and the quote are free. If you want a full scaled design to take away, that is a separate fee, and we will tell you the price before we start.
How long until you can start?
It depends on the season. In spring and summer we are usually booked four to eight weeks ahead, and in winter it is often quicker. We will give you a firm start date when you say yes.
Do I need to be at home while you work?
Not at all. We only need access to the garden. Many clients are at work all day and come home to see how far we have got.
What happens if the weather turns?
We build in some slack, and we reorder the jobs where we can. If a day is lost, we tell you that day and agree the new plan with you.
How do I pay?
A deposit when you book, a payment when the materials arrive and the balance when you are happy with the finished garden. Every stage is written into your quote.
Do you clear away the rubbish?
Yes. We take away all the waste from the job, and we leave the garden tidy at the end of every working day.
